7 TIPS: SKINCARE IN WINTER

Every season requires some adjustments in your skincare. In the winter months, for example, a healthy glow is not easy to get. Do you still want that natural glow in the coldest months of the year? Here for you, 7 tips for wonderful winter skin.

TIP 1. GET RID OF DRY AIR IN THE HOUSE
When it's colder than cold outside, the heating is usually turned up a bit inside the house. And the higher the heating is, the drier the air. And the drier the air, the drier your skin. And yes, you can probably feel it coming. The drier your skin...well, no healthy glow in any case. A higher moisture content in the house is therefore desirable. This is easily solved with a humidifier. A humidifier increases the moisture content in the air. Ideally, the humidity should be between 40% and 60%. Below 40%, you can suffer from dry skin or dry eyes.

TIP 2. HYALURON & CERAMIDES
In a cold winter, your skin does not want a light lotion. No, it wants the hyaluron god among creams. Accompanied by ceramides. Ceramides are - in a nutshell - fats that occur naturally in your skin. Ceramides hold the skin together and form a protective layer to protect against moisture loss. In winter, the skin barrier is easily broken down, so these ceramides are especially welcome.

TIP 3. USEFUL SKIN RITUALS
Here are a few examples of rituals for your winter skin.
A hot shower will not make your skin smile.
Skin prefers lukewarm water and a creamy cleanser. Immediately after showering is the best time to nurture your skin with a skin oil such as argan oil.
Hands & feet & lips
In the evening, before you slip into bed, apply a thick layer of moisturiser to your hands, feet and allez, on the lips as well.
Night mask
Once a week, generously apply a hyaluronic acid-based mask to your face (hydrates, restores the skin's moisture balance). Then dream about new adventures, let it soak in and give yourself a good wink in the mirror in the morning.
Eczema and redness
If you suffer from redness or eczema - which is common during the cold weather - then hemp seed oil is recommended. The unsaturated fatty acids in hempseed oil keep moisture in the skin. Hempseed oil strengthens the corneous layer and stimulates the formation of new cells.

TIP 4. LOTS OF WATER
Yes. Beauty starts with what you put in your mouth. During the cold months, your skin will benefit from food containing healthy fats. Almonds, flaxseed oil and fat fish are just a few examples. Your dry skin will appreciate it. Just like the extra large glasses with water you will drink. Alcohol and coffee should be avoided as they act as diuretics. And it is the moisture you want to conserve.

TIP 5. LESS IS MORE
Skincare products can't do their job if your skin is clogged with dead skin. But in the cold months, beware of cleansing too often and too intensively with exfoliants. Less is more, especially if your skin is already showing dry features. So once a week is more than enough. Choose a ready-to-use and gentle exfoliant with, for example, lactic acid or use some raw honey as a mask. Honey has a light exfoliating effect.

TIP 6. SKINCARE WHEN TEMPS GO BELOW FREEZING
In this case, better not use face cream, because of the greater risk of freezing of the skin. Hats, scarves, balaclavas, sunglasses. With these tools you can protect your skin from the freezing cold and from evaporation of moisture from the skin.

TIP 7. GOODBYE AGGRESSIVE CLEANSERS AND SOAPS
Aggressive facial cleansers are never a good idea. Get your magnifying glass and check the ingredients list. What you don't want: fragrances, alcohol, soap. What you do want: a gentle facial cleanser that does not strip your skin of its natural oils. For example, camellia oil as a oil-based cleanser and rose hydrolate as a water-based cleanser.
